Sunny Beach
Bulgaria’s largest and liveliest resort is situated just 35km north of Bourgas along the southeast section of the Black Sea Riviera. With its characteristically Mediterranean climate, boasting extended periods of uninterrupted sunshine, especially during the summer months, Sunny Beach certainly lives up to the name. The resort’s main attraction is, without a doubt its eight-kilometre, semi-circular beach of sugar sand widely regarded as Bulgaria’s finest.
In recent years the resort has expanded into an active tourist hub comprising of over endless hotels, campsites, restaurants and bars, nightclubs and cafés. From the beach, a walkway leads to the resort’s bustling epicentre containing shops and facilities to amuse the entire family. Beyond the beach, the array of activities available, including water sports, aqua parks, mini-golf, and go-karting are sure to entertain adventurous holidaymakers of any age. For some decedent relaxation there is also a range of spas and the promenade has many shops and stalls for some retail therapy.
A casino, folklore shows and bars along the sands all ensure that the resort’s energetic heart keeps beating throughout the night.

The resort’s award-winning blue flag beach lies next to the warm waters of the Black Sea. Besides swimming and sunbathing, a vast range of watersports is on offer from stalls peppered along the beach. Surfing, hand gliding, volleyball, paddleboats, parachutes, banana boats and yachting are sure to satisfy even the most discriminating of tastes.
Beyond the beach there are plenty of distractions for the whole family. Children are well catered for, with two aqua parks, a go-kart track, an eighteen-hole mini golf course and numerous organised activities and playgrounds. Horse riding is also available from a beachside ranch and youngsters can even get a good scare at the Horrorland haunted house.
Holidaymakers shouldn’t have to look too far to find a happy hour at one of the dozens of bars along the beach and promenade. Nights out can include gambling at the casino, dancing at the various nightclubs and discos or enjoying a range of entertainment acts at the local bars and taverns.
For those who are compelled to stir from their sun beds there is a range of day trips available to take in some local history and culture. These include buses to the cultural and retail capital of the Black Sea, Bourgas, and boat trips to the mouth of the Ropotame River. A popular excursion among tourists is to the historic town of Nessebar. Designated as a World Heritage site, Nessebar is steeped in culture with Roman baths and dozens of medieval cathedrals.
