Welcome to China

China may be modern but it still contains hallmarks of its ancient past. It’s outwardly urban but quintessentially rural. China is a land of mesmerising and eye-catching contradictions.

There are so many intriguing discoveries to be made during your Chinese vacation including Chinese culture, ancient artefacts and modern architecture.

Why China?

China is the home of 37 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Great Wall of China and Forbidden City in Beijing, as well as Xian’s Terracotta Army and the peaceful Suzhou gardens. The Great Wall of China are a series of fortifications, which stretches more than 5000 miles. The Wall was given the green light in the 3rd Century by China’s first Emperor, Qin. It was built to protect the Chinese Empire or its prototypical states against intrusions by various nomadic groups and military incursions by various warlike people and forces.

While in China, try to visit at least some of these thirty-seven sites. You will certainly be glad you did.

Some of the cities you should try to visit are are Beijing, Xian, Nanjing, Luoyang, Kaifeng, Hangzhou and Anyang. They are China’s seven original capitals. Every Chinese town provides every traveller with totally different and amazing insights into the country's historic past.

Beijing, China’s capital has both historical and contemporary buildings. It is also the home to the Forbidden City. Beijing attracts tourists from all corners of the globe. As of 2011, its population was 20,180,000.  Beijing is one of the ‘’Four Great Ancient Capitals of China’’ and it has been the political centre of China for centuries.

Beijing is renowned for its luxurious palaces, temples and huge stonewalls and gates. Its treasures and universities have made it a centre of culture and art in China.
