Spain is located in south-western Europe on the Iberian Peninsula. With great beaches, bustling nightlife, many cultural regions and historic cities, Spain makes a great holiday destination anytime of the year.

Spain is a surprise to those who only know of Spain’s reputation for great beach holidays. While the summer is the peak season because of the beaches, those of you who wish to avoid the crowds should consider visiting during the low season as many of the major attractions won’t be overcrowded.

Spain is blessed with a superb collection of historical landmarks. In fact, Spain has the second largest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the largest numbers of World Heritage Cities of any country in the entire world.

Spain has so many festivals, which are worth attending, so why not plan your Spanish holiday around a specific festival.

There is so much to see and do in Spain. You will definitely be spoilt for choice.

Barcelona, Madrid, Seville and Bilbao and Valencia are the five top cities to visit in Spain.

After Madrid, Barcelona is the second largest Spanish city.

Barcelona dates back to Roman times and, like every great city, it has had a very exciting and diverse past. You have to visit Las Ramblas. Las Ramblas is the major road and it is the heart of the city. This is where street performance was invented and it boasts everything imaginable.

For all you football fans out there don’t despair. While in Barcelona you will have the opportunity of a lifetime to visit the Nou Camp. Barcelona is full of bustling markets, located throughout the entire city.

This is a city that is rich in history, culture and some of the most stunning and eye catching architecture and major tourist attractions in the world, which is the home of Barcelona Football Club.

When one thinks of Barcelona, Antoni Gaudi springs to mind. His stunning work is spread over the entire city, from the world-renowned Palau Guell and La Sagrada Familia, which is the iconic symbol of Barcelona, to magnificent edifices hidden on small roads in the suburbs of the town.

This bustling and cosmopolitan city is very much a business hub, with a number of influential and important pillars of Spanish society based here including the Government, the headquarters for the Public Administration as well as the Spanish Royal Family.

There are so many interesting and major attractions that are definitely worth a visit. The Royal Palace for starters. The Royal Palace is home to Kings of Spain from Carlos III to Alfonso XIII. The Palace is now open to the public, so you can ramble and explore the grounds and enjoy the architecture and the beautiful art collection.

Another hidden gem in Madrid is the El Rastro Flea Market. This is Madrid’s renowned flea market where you will find antiques, clothes, CD’s and much more besides. The atmosphere here is amazing and is certainly worth a visit.

For all you football fans out there, why don’t you do the tour of the Bernabeu. Visit the Bernabeu – the home of Real Madrid football club.

Be warned, this city never sleeps. When the sun goes down, this impressive city comes to life. You are sure to find a cosy spot, which suits your style.
