Spain Holidays, Flights and City Breaks

Spain is located in south-western Europe on the Iberian Peninsula. With great beaches, bustling nightlife, many cultural regions and historic cities, Spain makes a great holiday destination anytime of the year.

Spain is a surprise to those who only know of Spain’s reputation for great beach holidays. While the summer is the peak season because of the beaches, those of you who wish to avoid the crowds should consider visiting during the low season as many of the major attractions won’t be overcrowded.

Spain is blessed with a superb collection of historical landmarks. In fact, Spain has the second largest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the largest numbers of World Heritage Cities of any country in the entire world.

Spain has so many festivals, which are worth attending, so why not plan your Spanish holiday around a specific festival.

There is so much to see and do in Spain. You will definitely be spoilt for choice.

Barcelona, Madrid, Seville and Bilbao and Valencia are the five top cities to visit in Spain.

Barcelona

After Madrid, Barcelona is the second largest Spanish city.

Barcelona dates back to Roman times and, like every great city, it has had a very exciting and diverse past. You have to visit Las Ramblas. Las Ramblas is the major road and it is the heart of the city. This is where street performance was invented and it boasts everything imaginable.

For all you football fans out there don’t despair. While in Barcelona you will have the opportunity of a lifetime to visit the Nou Camp. Barcelona is full of bustling markets, located throughout the entire city.

This is a city that is rich in history, culture and some of the most stunning and eye catching architecture and major tourist attractions in the world, which is the home of Barcelona Football Club.

When one thinks of Barcelona, Antoni Gaudi springs to mind. His stunning work is spread over the entire city, from the world-renowned Palau Guell and La Sagrada Familia, which is the iconic symbol of Barcelona, to magnificent edifices hidden on small roads in the suburbs of the town.

Madrid

This bustling and cosmopolitan city is very much a business hub, with a number of influential and important pillars of Spanish society based here including the Government, the headquarters for the Public Administration as well as the Spanish Royal Family.

There are so many interesting and major attractions that are definitely worth a visit. The Royal Palace for starters. The Royal Palace is home to Kings of Spain from Carlos III to Alfonso XIII. The Palace is now open to the public, so you can ramble and explore the grounds and enjoy the architecture and the beautiful art collection.

Another hidden gem in Madrid is the El Rastro Flea Market. This is Madrid’s renowned flea market where you will find antiques, clothes, CD’s and much more besides. The atmosphere here is amazing and is certainly worth a visit.

For all you football fans out there, why don’t you do the tour of the Bernabeu. Visit the Bernabeu – the home of Real Madrid football club.

Be warned, this city never sleeps. When the sun goes down, this impressive city comes to life. You are sure to find a cosy spot, which suits your style.

Seville

Seville is the fourth-largest city in Spain and the 30th most populous municipality in the European Union. Seville’s Old Town, the third largest in Europe with an area of 4km squared, contains three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, which you have to visit during your Seville city break. They include the Alcazar Palace Complex, Seville Cathedral and the General Archive of the Indies. Have the camera at your disposal!!!

There are so many awe-inspiring landmarks and attractions in Seville that you have to check out on your arrival. The Seville Cathedral, which is the largest gothic Cathedral and the fourth largest church in the world is definitely worth a visit, so call us today about our cheap flights, holidays and short city breaks to Seville from Ireland.

Any visitor to Seville has to visit Alcazar of Seville. It is a Royal Palace originally a Moorish fort. It is the oldest royal palace, which is still in working order in Europe today

Maria Luisa Park is a magnificent park to explore during your city break holiday to Seville.

The Andalucian way of life is alive and well so get here and see what all the fuss is about.

Bilbao

Bilbao is a great city break destination and it’s located in the north-central part of Spain, only 14km south of the Bay of Biscay. If you are interested in architecture, Bilbao is an ideal holiday or short city break destination. When one thinks of Bilbao, the Guggenheim Museum instantly comes to mind. The Guggenheim Museum features exhibitions organised by the Guggenheim Foundation and by the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

You will come across seventeen bridges that span the banks of the estuary inside the city limits. The most interesting ones to checkout when you are in Bilbao is Zubizuri, which means White in Basque, is a pedestrian footbridge that was designed by Santiago Calatrava, which opened in 1997 and the Princes of Spain Bridge, also known as ‘’La Salve,’’ which is a suspension bridge that opened in 1972 and which was redesigned by the French conceptual artist Daniel Bureu in 2007. Deusto Bridge is a bascule bridge opened in 1936, modelled after the Michigan Avenue Bridge in Chicago.

Valencia

The city of Valencia is well known internationally. It’s famed for its nightlife with the Falles (Las Fallas), a local festival that takes place in March. If you enjoy festivals, then a holiday or short city break to Valencia will make your year.

Explore the ancient winding streets of the Barrio del Carmen, which contain buildings that date to the Roman and Arabic times. It is a great day out for the entire family. Valencia is the home of many medieval churches that you can find throughout the entire city, during your city break. You also have to visit the largest Plaça de l'Ajuntament, where you will find the City Hall.
