Welcome to Philippines

Located in Southeast Asia in the western Pacific Ocean, the Philippines is a fantastic country to visit. The Philippines is the home to some amazing beaches, which are a part of one of the world’s largest coastlines, some stunning sights and attractions and seven thousand islands plus a lot more incredible Philippine treats that every visitor will be amazed by. The Philippines has endured a tumultuous past to say the least. The first settlers in the Philippines were the Negritos followed by the Austronesian settlers before the country came under Spanish rule during the Spanish Colonial Era. In 1898, the Filipinos declared independence but they would have to wait until 1946 – a year after the end of the Second World War when they were at last granted their independence.

The Fluvial Procession is a major part of the festival and it takes place at dawn with the Santo Nino statue being carried from the city of Mandaue to Cebu on a pump boat.
