2023 was finally the year Manchester City won their first Champions League title. Dominating every team they came across, including a memorable 4-0 win in the semi-final versus reigning champions Real Madrid and then finishing with a hard fought 1-0 win against surprise package Inter Milan in the final.
Manchester City will yet again be the favourites for the 2023/24 title but you can never rule out the rest of Europe’s elite teams. Real Madrid, with their rich history, will aim to win a record-extending 15th trophy, while Barcelona seek their first title since 2015. Bayern Munich, now led by the experienced Thomas Tuchel, and Paris Saint-Germain, fuelled by heavy investment and the talent of Kylian Mbappe, are also teams to watch out for in the tournament.
Alongside Manchester City, other English teams will be competing in the Champions League. Manchester United, despite being in the Europa League last year, will be back in the prestigious tournament. Arsenal, making their return after a hiatus since the 2016/17 season, will aim to make an impact. Additionally, Newcastle United will participate in the Champions League for the first time since the 2002/03 season, marking their long-awaited return to the competition.
